Steak, or beef, is an excellent source of protein. A 9-ounce piece of beef top sirloin steak contains 78 grams of protein, the most of all cuts of steak.

What do we need protein for?
Ok, here comes the holistic nutritionist in me. Every cell in your body is composed of protein and is considered a macro nutrient because your body needs large amounts of it.
Your body doesn’t store protein so you need to replenish it every day.
Protein is used to:
- build and repair tissues
- make enzymes
- make hormones
- produce body chemicals
- build bones
- make cartilage
- build muscles
- produce skin
- make blood
- grow nails and hair
