A simple rich chocolate cocoa cookie surrounded with twinkling sugars is easy to make and so impressive to serve. And we all know that glitter makes everything better!
Our cookies are made with cocoa powder giving them a deep rich chocolate flavor. You’ll be able to whip up these cookies with basic ingredients you probably have on hand in your kitchen.

How to make chocolate cookies
This is a quick overview of how to make glitter cookies. Scroll down for the full recipe instructions and ingredient amounts in the recipe card below
- Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and baking soda in medium bowl until blended; reserve.
- With mixer on medium-high beat butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until combined and blended, about 3 minutes.
- Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Add reserved flour mixture and beat until a thick dough forms.
- Using wet hands, shape into 1-inch balls and chill 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350F.
- Roll cookie dough in glitter and arrange 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake 14 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool 3 minutes on baking sheets. Transfer to wire rack and cool completely.

- Having all the ingredients at room temperature will ensure easy mixing.
- I like to sift the cocoa powder to be sure there are no lumps.
Substitutions
- You can use your favorite colors of sugars in place of the silver and gold sugars
- Light brown or dark brown sugar will both work well in this recipe
