Childhood Memories of Homemade Pasta Sauce
Can I take a minute of your time for a quick story? Thank you. Many of you know that my mother’s maiden name is Lamborghini (yes we are related to the Lamborghini car) and so my Italian roots run very deep. My childhood was filled with homemade pasta drying on the dining room table and marinara sauce, always made from scratch, simmering on the stove top.
So you can imagine my surprise when I went off to college and my roommate took her turn making dinner with, heaven help me, with jarred pasta sauce! I had never tasted such a thing in my entire life. It was quite an eye opener and at the moment that first forkful hit my taste buds I realized how truly lucky I had been growing up with my grandma’s homemade sauce. And yes, we call it sauce, not gravy. Call me lucky, call me thankful too!
