How to make homemade ginger syrup

- Step 1: In a small saucepot, combine sugar, water and ginger slices. Heat over medium-low heat until the sugar has dissolved and simmer for 10 additional minutes.
- Step 2: Remove from the heat and cool completely. Strain the syrup through a mesh strainer and discard the ginger slices. Transfer to a mason jar, seal and refrigerate until ready to use.
Hint: A gentle simmer is best when making simple syrup. Do not boil the mixture. Let the sugar dissolve slowly.
