Whole milk and heavy cream are all it takes to make a decadent creamy topping.
And a mini frother does all the work for you.
This recipe is similar to a Starbucks copycat recipe but I took things up a notch and made the foam topping thicker and richer by adding heavy cream.
Starbucks just froths milk for its cold foam. And you can always do that too and even use your favorite non-dairy milk. The result will be a bit lighter and less creamy than my recipe.

I love to combine the milk and heavy cream in a mason jar and keep it refrigerated so I can just pour some out and froth it without having to measure ingredients every time I want a cold foam topping. Just shake, pour into a glass measuring cup and froth into deliciousness!

Substitutions
Don't have an ingredient on hand or looking to switch things up a bit? Check out these easy ingredient substitutions:
- You can substitute 2% milk for the whole milk although the texture of the cold foam will be less thick than using whole milk
- A nondairy milk, such as almond milk or oat milk, can also be used in place of the whole milk
- You can use an immersion blender instead of a mini frother

You can make your frothy topping according to the recipe below without adding a sweetener or a flavor or you can make your topping with one of these different flavors:
- Strawberry – add a splash of strawberry simple syrup
- Blueberry – add some blueberry simple syrup

- Honey - add a touch of honey flavor with honey syrup
Equipment
Storage
- I combine the milk with the heavy cream in a mason jar with a lid or an airtight container and refrigerate it until I want to make some cold foam.
- Then I pour as much of the cream mixture as I need into either a measuring cup or another mason jar and, using a hand frother, I make as much foam topping as I want for my coffee.
- The mixture, before frothing, will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 4-5 days.
