How to make kale chips in the oven

- Preheat oven to 300F.
- Remove kale leaves from stems and middle vein. Cur or tear the kale leaves into bite size pieces. Wash to remove any grit or dirt and pat the leaves dry.
- In a bowl combine kale leaves and olive oil. Using hands, massage each leaf so that entire surface of both sides of leaves are moistened with oil.
- In two batches, arrange kale leaves on parchment lined baking sheets in a single layer. Be sure not to crowd the leaves on the pans or they will not bake up crispy!
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, kosher salt and pepper.
- Bake 20 minutes or until the leaves are crispy.
Recipe Tips
- Be sure not to crowd the kale leaves together on the baking sheet. If they are crowded they will not crisp up well.
- Baby kale will not work well in this recipe. Curly kale is firmer and will bake into crispy chips.
Substitutions
- If you are short on time you can use a bag of precut curly kale in place of a bunch of kale that you have to trim and cut yourself.
