- Combine marinade and chicken in a plastic food storage bag and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the grill for direct heat grilling.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the marinade.
- Grill chicken until juices run clear, turning once. Let chicken rest 5 minutes, then slice.
- To assemble gyros, top the pita breads with sliced chicken, red onion, lettuce and Tzatziki sauce then fold.
How to make a gyro salad
You can turn this recipe into a main dish salad too!
- Marinate and grill the chicken then slice.
- Toss lettuce, red onion and chopped tomato with some of the Tzatziki sauce.
- Top with sliced grilled chicken and cut up pita bread for croutons.
- Serve remaining Tzatziki sauce on the side.
