Air Fried Stuffed Peppers
The best part about air frying peppers is that it only takes about 10 minutes to soften these colorful peppers start to finish.
Pop those peppers in the air fryer to soften them for a quick 5 minutes while you are cooking the filling on your stove top.
Then fill the peppers, top them with mozzarella and another 5 minutes in the air fryer are all you will need.
So next time you make stuffed peppers, no need to preheat the oven. Now you can save time and make Stuffed Peppers in the air fryer instead.
This is an especially good way to keep your kitchen cool and still make stuffed peppers in those warm summer months.
You can also make the filling ahead, reheat it in the microwave and then fill the peppers. An easy and quick dinner on a busy weeknight.
Add a salad and you’re all set with a delicious dinner tonight!

Swirls of Flavor Recipe Tips
- You can make the filling ahead to make dinner quick and easy on busy days.
- I made this recipe with sweet Italian sausage but you can certainly use a combination of sweet and hot Italian sausage
- Add chopped sun-dried tomatoes to the filling
- You can also cut off the top one third of the bell peppers, a more traditional way to prepare stuffed peppers, instead of laying them on their sides
Substitutions
- I used a combination of yellow, orange and red bell peppers but you substitute green peppers, although they will not be as sweet
- Dried basil or dried oregano can be used in place of the dried Italian seasoning
- Garlic powder can be substituted for the fresh garlic
- Ground turkey or ground chicken can be used in place of the ground beef
- Use your favorite shredded cheese instead of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Substitute hot Italian sausage for sweet Italian sausage
Storage
- Store leftover stuffed peppers in an airtight container or a food storage ziplock bag in the refrigerator.
- Peppers will stay fresh for 2-3 days and can be reheated in the air fryer, in the oven or in the microwave.
- As always, I find it helpful to visit the FDA website for food storage guidelines
