Most strawberry cream cheese cookies have a cream cheese filling or cheesecake filling, but not ours. The cream cheese in these cookies is in the frosting on top!

The size of these cookies and the frosting on top remind me of Crumbl sugar cookies and I’m so happy that I can make them at home now and not have to wait on line to get my cookie fix.

How to make strawberry sugar cookies

- For the cookies, preheat the oven to 350F
- With mixer on medium-high beat the butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Reduce mixer speed to medium and add the egg and vanilla and beat until blended.
- Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually add the flour, salt and baking soda. Beat until a cookie dough forms.
- Divide the cookie batter into 14 pieces and roll into cookie dough balls.
- Using the back of a rounded tablespoon make a deep hole in the center of each dough ball.
- Fill the hole with about 1 teaspoon strawberry jam. Carefully roll the dough up and over the jam and seal by gently rolling until smooth.
- Baking in batches, arrange cookie dough about 3 inches apart on the prepare cookie sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until cookies are golden.
- Cool cookies on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes and then transfer cookies to a cooling rack and cool completely.
- For the frosting, with mixer on medium-high, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
- Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually add confectioners sugar until blended.
- Add the heavy cream and vanilla and beat until combined.
- Transfer the frosting to a pastry bag fitted with a large round tip.
- Starting in the center of each cookie, pipe the frosting in a spiral pattern.
- Sprinkle with colored sugars or valentine sprinkles

- Add pink or red food coloring to the frosting.
- For best results be sure that your butter and cream cheese are both at room temperature for easy blending

- Use a 1/4 cup size (# 16) cookie scoop to easily divide the cookie dough
- Stir lemon zest into the frosting
- Add strawberry extract to the frosting
