Swirls of Flavor Recipe Tips
- Be sure to use a whisk when making this sauce so that all of the ingredients blend evenly.
- To save time, you can use jarred minced garlic
- For a slightly thinner sauce, increase the heavy cream to 1 cup
- I do not recommend using garlic powder in this recipe. Fresh garlic will give you the best flavor.
- Stir fresh or frozen peas into the homemade sauce and cook until heated through
- For a hint of heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes!
Substitutions
- You can substitute vegetable broth for the chicken broth
- Replace the dried Italian seasoning with 2 teaspoons dried basil and 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- If you use salted butter, in place of unsalted butter, you will want to reduce the amount of kosher salt that you use
- Freshly cracked black pepper can be substituted for the black pepper
Storage
- Store any leftover cream sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- The sauce will stay fresh in the refrigerator for about 5 days.
- If the sauce separates after storing, simply use a whisk to bring it back together when reheating.
How to reheat leftover sauce
- Reheat any leftover sauce in a saucepot over medium-low heat.
- If the sauce has separated, whisk it to bring it back together as you reheat it.
Equipment
- medium saucepot
- measuring spoons
