Swirls of Flavor Recipe Tips
- You can shape the meatballs ahead and refrigerate the uncooked meatballs until you are ready to air fry them. Be sure to let them come to room temperature first.
- Be sure to add the olive oil to the chicken mixture. The oil keeps the chicken moist and prevents it from drying out.
- Do not crowd the meatballs in the air fryer basket. You will want to cook them in batches.
- Use a cookie scoop so that the meatballs are all the same size.
- Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for a hint of heat
- Stir in minced sundried tomatoes for added flavor
- Serve the mini meatballs with a pesto dipping sauce
- Pizza sauce will taste delicious as a dipping sauce for these meatballs
Substitutions
- You can substitute ground turkey for the ground chicken
- A combination of dried oregano and dried basil can replace the dried Italian seasoning
- Paprika can be substituted for the smoked paprika
Storage
- Store leftover chicken meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat the meatballs in the microwave or in the air fryer.
- As always, I find it helpful to visit the FDA website for food storage guidelines
