Onion Soup Mix
Everyone loves the classic onion soup mix that comes in a box with two envelopes.
You know the brand, right? It's such a pantry staple and now you can make it yourself.
You'll always have your own Onion Soup Mix on hand for great recipes such as burgers, meatloaf, french onion dip and more!
And your homemade onion soup mix recipe will be free of preservatives. Now that makes this totally worth making your own mix.
I love getting the ingredients at my local dollar store and I make a big batch which saves me so much money.
Dried onion, beef bouillon, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and pepper are all you need for this onion soup mix recipe!
Dried onion is actually just dehydrated onion and readily available in the spice section. Sometimes it is also called chopped onions, minced onions or freeze dried onions.
The bouillon is where you can control the salt content and make a low sodium onion soup mix.
I used regular beef bouillon granules, but you can use low sodium beef bouillon granules and that will lower the salt level for you.
You can even go so far as to use sodium free beef bouillon for a salt free onion soup mix.
I used smoked paprika which lends a nice underlying flavor but paprika will work just as well.
There are three tablespoons of the soup mix in each envelope of dry onion soup mix so you can easily use three tablespoons of this homemade dry onion soup mix substitute in any recipe that uses an envelope of the processed product.
Say goodbye to the store-bought version and hello to your own homemade dry onion soup mix.
Once you make your own copycat Lipton onion soup mix you will wonder why you haven’t made your very own homemade onion soup mix sooner!
