  • Remove the kale leaves from the stems and cut or tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.You should have about 4 cups of kale pieces.
  • Rinse the kale leaves to remove any grit or dirt. Dry completely using a salad spinner or paper towel.
  • Place the kale pieces in a large bowl and toss with olive oil.
  • Using your fingers, massage the oil into the leaves so that each piece of kale is evenly coated with oil.
  • Sprinkle with kosher salt.
  • Arrange the kale in a single layer in the air fryer basket and place a wire rack over the kale pieces to prevent them from flying during cooking. Depending on the size of your air fryer you may need to cook in batches.
  • Air fry at 350F for 5 minutes or until crispy shaking halfway through the cooking time.

Variations
Use your favorite seasonings to make air fried kale chips. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Salt and Pepper - sprinkle with kosher salt and cracked black pepper
  • Ranch - sprinkle dry ranch seasoning on the kale peices before air frying
  • Parmesan - you can either add grated parmesan cheese before air frying or after air frying
  • Garlic - sprinkle with garlic powder before air frying
  • Taco - toss with taco seasoning before cooking
  • Everything bagel seasoning - for added texture and flavor, toss with bagel seasoning before air frying the kale
  • Chili powder - for a kick of heat, sprinkle with chili powder before cooking
  • Onion - a sprinkle of onion powder before cooking will add a nice flavor to the chips
