Combine the water and sugar in a saucepot.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and simmer until the sugar has dissolved completely.
Remove the saucepot from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
Transfer the cooled syrup to an airtight container, such as a mason jar, and store in the refrigerator.
This recipe makes 1 1/2 cups of simple syrup.
1 Tablespoon is a serving, however, if you like your drinks very sweet feel free to use more!
