In a small saucepot simmer soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, honey, ginger, sesame oil and garlic over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until brown sugar is dissolved and mixture is heated through.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine cornstarch and water, stirring until blended.
Gradually whisk the cornstarch mixture into the saucepot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
Boil for at least 1 minute or until the mixture has thickened.
Remove from the heat and let the teriyaki sauce cool.
Once cooled, transfer the sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate.
Teriyaki sauce will keep for about 1 week in the refrigerator.
Yield : 3/4 cup sauce
