  • In a small saucepot simmer soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, honey, ginger, sesame oil and garlic over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until brown sugar is dissolved and mixture is heated through.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine cornstarch and water, stirring until blended.
  • Gradually whisk the cornstarch mixture into the saucepot and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Boil for at least 1 minute or until the mixture has thickened.
  • Remove from the heat and let the teriyaki sauce cool.
  • Once cooled, transfer the sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate.
  • Teriyaki sauce will keep for about 1 week in the refrigerator.

Yield : 3/4 cup sauce
Makes 12 servings (1 Tablespoon per serving)
