Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

With just two ingredients and a few minutes on the stove top, you can make your own Brown Sugar Simple Syrup, just like your favorite specialty coffee shop uses in their fancy drinks!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Combine packed brown sugar and water in a small saucepot.
  • Simmer over medium heat until the brown sugar has dissolved.
  • Remove from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
  • Transfer your homemade brown sugar syrup to a glass container, such as a mason jar.
  • Refrigerate, covered, for up to 2-3 weeks.
  • Add the simple syrup to your favorite coffee drinks, teas, lattes and cocktails

Notes

  • Add a little vanilla extract after you cool the syrup
  • Add vanilla beans to the hot syrup after you remove it from the heat and let them steep in the mixture
  • Add cinnamon sticks to the hot syrup after you remove it from the heat and let them steep in the mixture
  • This recipe makes 10 (2 Tablespoons each) servings 
  • Be sure measure the brown sugar correctly and press it into your measuring cup so it is "packed"
Substitutions
  • You can make this syrup with dark brown sugar in place of the light brown sugar
  • You can substitute granulated white sugar for brown sugar to make a classic simple syrup
