Preheat oven to 375F.
Combine oats, flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt in a bowl; reserve.
Beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until blended and fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
Gradually add reserved flour mixture until a cookie dough has formed.
Stir in chips and cranberries.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto baking sheet, 2 inches apart
Sprinkle with gold sugar, if desired.
Bake until edges are golden, about 10 minutes.
Cook 3 minutes on baking sheet then transfer to wire rack and cool completely.
