- 2 ½ cups flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbs. sugar
- ½ tsp. kosher salt
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ cup crumbled crisp-cooked bacon (about 4 strips of bacon)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg , lightly beaten
- 4 Tbs. butter , melted
- Additional shredded cheddar cheese and bacon to sprinkle on top , optional
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour an 8 ½ x 4 ½-inch loaf pan. In bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar, kosher salt and garlic powder until blended.
Stir in cheddar cheese and bacon.
Add milk, egg and melted butter and stir just until a wet dough forms.
Transfer to prepared pan. Sprinkle with additional cheddar cheese and bacon, if desired.
Bake 45 minutes or until baked through and hollow when tapped.
Cool in pan 10 minutes. Transfer loaf to baking rack, loosening edges with a knife if necessary, and cool or eat warm if you can’t resist!
