- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups chopped onion , divided
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 3 Tablespoons onion soup mix
- 1 package Hawaiian rolls
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 6 slices American cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced dill pickles
Preheat oven to 350F and coat a 7-inch x 11-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
In a large nonstick skillet, melt butter over medium heat and cook 1/2 cup onion until tender and golden. Set aside.
In the same skillet, cook the ground beef, the remaining 1 cup chopped onion and onion soup mix until beef is browned and onion is tender.
Place the roll bottoms in the prepared baking dish.
Spoon the ground beef mixture evenly over the rolls.
Top with the reserved cooked onions and any butter that they cooked in, ketchup, cheese, pickles and the roll tops.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes or until heated through.
Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley, if desired.
