Ingredients

Instructions

  • Let your air fryer preheat to 375F while preparing the chicken.
  • Tie the chicken legs together with kitchen twine and pat the chicken dry.
  • Combine kosher salt, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper and cayenne in a small bowl.
  • Stir in the olive oil until mixture is blended and a paste forms. Reserve 1 Tablespoon of the paste.
  • Rub or brush the remaining paste over the entire chicken.
  • Place the chicken breast-side down, in the air fryer and cook 25 minutes.
  • Carefully turn the chicken so that the breast side is now up. I used two wooden spoons to do this, one inside the cavity and the other to help to turn the chicken.
  • Usinf a brush or small spatula, spread the reserved seasoning paste over the top of the chicken and cook an additional 25 minutes or until the chicken is done and a meat thermometer reads 165F in the thickest part of the chicken.
  • Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before carving.
